i have some tricks to play.
i know it may sound childish but i feel that creating havoc and forcing the memorial to be postponed will be the highlight of the night!
wish me luck!.
kpop--what is your situation in the congregation ? are you planning to go out with a bang ?
wouldnt it be better to keep a low profile---and try to talk to those who you think might respond well to your viewpoint ? maybe take a few out of the cult with you---rather than alienate all of them in one dramatic gesture.
ive lived here 7 months now--and today was the 4th time some dubs have called--while i was at home.. they were probably about 60-70.. after i let one do her simple leaflet presentation--i told them i used to be a jw--but left over 40 years ago.
and that i held the watchtower responsible for the break up of my family: and discussed shunning.. but the main thing i wanted to discuss--was the sale of their kingdom hall.
they confirmed a sale was going through.
what struck a chord with me---i told them i had quit the cult--yes--i used the c word---40 odd years ago---and that my own daughter shuns me--and ive never even met my 4 grand-daughters. Yet they still were willing to talk to me--even asked if i still believed in jehovah--i told them i was atheist...and that name jehovah was just a false man-made name. told them the watchtower was just a property and printing business----and in real trouble over child molestation issues.
so why didnt they just cut and run ?
i wonder how many ex jw's are out there behind the front door?
or maybe i was the only householder prepared to talk today .

but the main thing i wanted to discuss--was the sale of their kingdom hall. they confirmed a sale was going through. i asked them what was to happen to the money---and the reply--as i expected---was its going to help build more halls in other areas and countries. the sale asking price was £500,000. i told them the real destination for their money------and suggested they discuss it with their elders.
they were at my doorway for about 30 minutes. but i didnt feel good about it--it just confirmed they were brainwashed and totally set in their ways. a lost cause. i wont bother entertaining old dubs again---waste of my breath. but it would be good to meet some young ones---if there are any in this congregation
i just discovered that i have gaps in my national insurance contributions for the years i spent in bethel!
i remember signing a vow of poverty and a tax document declaring my volunteer missionary status but i don't remember them ever telling me that i would have to pay my own ni contributions out of my allowance.
i am wondering about all those who have been asked to leave bethel in the last year and who are behind on their contributions.
it may make no difference to your state pension. you need X number of years---any more years you pay add nothing to your pension.
back in 2005, i remember sitting in the stadium in the special rows with 42 others.
8000 people were looking at us - maybe even with a binocular - while listening to the speech.
my family and my friends among them, being all proud of me.. i don't remember being enthusiastic.
1961: i was 13. i got dipped to please my mum---as dad was getting dipped at the same time.
also 6 other young teenagers in the congregation were too--i wanted to be part of the gang.
one of them--who was to become my pioneer partner a few years later------told me-- "before hand we will be asked 2 questions. you have to answer--NO"
but i think the aswers were--YES---just shows how much i knew what i was getting into.
i was thinking today about the descriptions of the future "paradise" presented by the watchtower, and i was struck by something about it.
most of us are aware that the watchtower promotes an interpretation of the apocalypse that would result in the immediate execution of 99.9% of the population with no hope for resurrection.
additionally, we have been told about the large group of people that are supposed to side with satan at the end of the thousand year reign of christ.
and people still believe in this crap?
i was showing a friend of mine what kind of books my parents allowed me to read when i was very young.
no children books that was age related but the so called orange paradise book was my only children book i had.
she was taken back on how violent it was and showing little kids being killed by god was just unspeakable.
i had a study with the paradise book when i was about 11. it seemed very childish. a few years later i was told it was intended for the missionaries to use in africa.....with literate adults.
i want to send a disassociation letter to the elders at my old congregation.
how do i address it and what wording do i use?
i know it's not something i have to do, it's symbolic for me.
dear bros
goodbye
xx
up until i left recently i was participating in the cart work.
in the location where we used to set up near our local mall we never had one person stop and take literature or stop and chat - other than fellow brothers.
i thought maybe it was just a bad location or something.
why even have the carts "manned" ---- just set them up in a public area--chained securely--with a few tracts available to anyone who wants to help themselves. it may well turn out to be more productive--without a person in attendance.
the dub who sets it up then counts the time till they return to remove it--say 8 hours later
